Whether it's a near-miss from Hurricane Lee or a winter blizzard, there are plenty of reasons for the lights to go out in Maine. Who you gonna call?

For most of the state, the answer is Central Maine Power or Versant Power. Maine's two largest electric utilities are well-practiced in dealing with outages.

When you're waiting for electricity service to be restored, any delay can be too long. Still, it's worth noting that Maine utilities bear a heavy burden.

For example, trees and vegetation — the primary cause of downed power lines in a storm — cover 90% of Maine. The state is more heavily forested than any other in the U.S.

In general, how satisfied are you with the ability of Maine's electricity companies to restore service after an outage?
Very satisfied. The utilities have a tough job, but they rise to the challenge. (75%, 292 VOTES)
Somewhat satisfied. The utilities do OK. (12%, 48 VOTES)
Somewhat dissatisfied. The utilities don't meet the standard I expect. (6%, 24 VOTES)
Very dissatisfied. The utilities have a tough job, but they don't come close to meeting the challenge. (7%, 26 VOTES)
