Sales of electric vehicles rose by 25% last year, with 17 million sold worldwide, according to the International Energy Agency's recent "Global EV Outlook." The trend is led by China, where half of the new cars sold were EVs.
In the U.S., sales of EVs increased by 10% last year, but that was off the pace of 2023, when a 40% gain was recorded.
The report noted a plateauing of sales in Europe, where some countries are rolling back incentives offered to EV buyers.

I won't buy them until they figure out batteries that will work well in our cold weather.
I bought a 100% electric Chevy Blazer 3 months ago and haven't pumped a drop of gas since. Between the savings on gas, oil and other combustion engine expenses, it was enough to make the monthly payments for the new car. Its range is 300 miles, which I typically do not drive in a day. I plug it in at night and start with a full "tank" or charge in the morning. And when I've had to charge at a station, I plug in, do a little work or have lunch and in a few minutes I'm ready to go. I've had 3 Chevy Tahoes and other SUVs over my lifetime. This vehicle rivals all of them. I think there's a lot of misunderstandings about EVs and urge people to take a deeper dive into them, at a minimum a hybrid.

If you drive less than 70% of the average range of the car owning one is a no brainer. You install a charger in your house and plug it in at night. You start out the day with a full charge. Electric motors are more reliable than ICE gas motors, the battery lasts for several hundred thousand miles and is cheaper to run. The first major scheduled service on many of them is 100,000 miles. You charge the fluids that cool the battery and motor. People who live in apartments and sales people who drive several hundred miles a day are not the people who should buy one.
