As one of Maine’s largest and most diverse private human service agencies, we provide programs and services to:
• reduce poverty,
• support families, and
• promote justice in social structures.
We serve individuals of all faiths, with special emphasis on Maine’s most vulnerable populations — the poor, older adults, and children.
We continuously analyze trends to pursue mission-aligned opportunities for existing service areas, identify target areas, and track emerging social needs, including, but not limited to:
• providing behavioral and mental health services for adults and children;
• sustaining strong services in substance use disorder treatment and recovery;
• strengthening and growing services for Maine’s aging population;
• Supporting New Mainers on their path to self-sufficiency and citizenship;
• Creating program models for emergency assistance services; and
• Addressing hunger/food security issues.
We seek to grow our donor base by cultivating relationships with businesses and individuals, demonstrating trustworthiness through transparency and responsible stewardship of funds.
Catholic Charities Maine’s (CCM) hosts the annual Put Children First Golf Classic each September in Southern Maine to support childcare scholarships for low-income families at our child development centers, located in Portland and Biddeford. We welcome sponsors at various monetary levels, through volunteering at the event, and enrolling teams!
In Northern Maine, our Feed The County initiative raises awareness of food insecurity. Fundraising includes radio and TV telethons and other local outreach. Money raised supports CCM’s Hunger & Relief Services, which operates two food banks, grows fresh local vegetables through our Farm for ME initiative, and supplies 28+ food pantries in Northern Maine.
For more information, please contact our Development Office at Development@ccmaine.org or (207) 523-1188.
Community Partners make an annual donation that supports thousands of Mainers in need and receive yearlong recognition and benefits in return. To join, contact Development@ccmaine.org or (207) 523-1188.
Threads of Hope Thrift Stores – Caribou, Sanford, Monticello, and Presque Isle – accept donations of clothing, furniture, and housewares. Drop Boxes are available for businesses.
As a proud United Way agency, we value businesses that encourage employee donations by matching funds.
We accept vehicle donations of cars, trucks, boats, motorcycles, trailers, and more – even if they’re no longer in working condition. Towing is free, and donors receive a tax credit. Call 855-460-4483 or visit www.ccmaine.careasy.org.
With more than 20 programs serving people across the state of Maine, we have plenty of opportunities for volunteers to lend a hand, and the need is always great. Whether it’s knitting hats and scarves for our annual Wall of Warmth giveaway, checking on an older neighbor, reading to children at our Child Development Centers, providing volunteer legal services to a new Mainer, sorting donations at our Thrift Stores, supporting staff at our offices statewide, or helping with our annual golf tournament, volunteers make our mission possible. Last year, 418 volunteers dedicated their time to our mission. To find the volunteer opportunity that’s right for you, visit www.ccmaine.org/volunteer.
