ILAP will respond to an increasingly harsh immigration policy landscape, defending immigrants from expanded enforcement, detention, and harmful policies that threaten family unity and due process. We will continue providing high-quality legal services while expanding capacity to meet asylum and humanitarian relief needs. We aim to strengthen our Pro Bono Panel, deepen partnerships in underserved regions, and enhance our data and technology systems through a new CRM. We will also invest in staff wellness and sustainability, ensuring ILAP remains a trusted advocate for immigrants across Maine. Throughout, we will uphold dignity, equity, and the voices of our clients – so that immigrant communities can build safe, stable, and meaningful lives, even in the face of rising threats.
ILAP’s annual spring gathering brings together supporters to celebrate Maine’s immigrant communities with cultural food, music, and activities that honor the diversity, resilience, and contributions immigrants bring to our state. The event not only raises funds for our legal services but also builds community and elevates immigrant voices and work. Businesses can support the event by sponsoring or contributing in-kind goods and services – a meaningful way to advance immigrant justice and demonstrate a commitment to a more welcoming Maine. ILAP welcomes support through annual appeals, workplace giving, and one-time or recurring gifts. Monthly giving offers a simple, sustainable way to stand with immigrants year-round, and our Giving Circles recognize donors who deepen their commitment and help build a more welcoming Maine. We also invite gifts of stock or legacy gifts through a will or trust.
Businesses can support ILAP by sponsoring events, matching employee donations, or contributing in-kind services and professional expertise. Individuals and community members can also host house parties or fundraisers to raise awareness and inspire giving.
Supporters can also join our Maine Home for All campaign by purchasing merchandise or downloading and printing a sign to display at home, work, or in the community – spreading a message of welcome across the state. Learn more at ilapmaine.org/home-for-all.
Every gift – of any size or form – helps protect immigrant families and strengthens our community. Make a donation at ilapmaine.org/donate and/or stay connected at ilapmaine.org/connect.
Members of the Maine Bar can contribute to ILAP’s work through the Campaign for Justice at campaignforjustice.org, a special collaborative fundraising effort by Maine’s legal community to support legal aid.
ILAP’s work is powered by volunteers who generously share their skills, time, and energy. We welcome attorneys to join our Pro Bono Panel to represent asylum seekers and other immigrant clients. Volunteers are also vital for interpretation, translation, event support, and fundraising activities. Businesses can help amplify our advocacy campaigns and encourage staff to volunteer their time or expertise. Volunteers ensure that clients feel supported and valued, especially during complex and stressful legal processes. By sharing their talents, volunteers help ILAP keep services accessible, responsive, and community-centered. To learn more visit ilapmaine.org/volunteer.
