Moody’s Co-Worker Owned began as ‘Moody’s Body Shop’ in 1977 in Gorham, founded by Shawn Moody when he was a senior in high school. With over 385,000 vehicles repaired Moody’s philosophy centers on community support, customer loyalty and coworker dedication. The real strength of Moody’s is our dedicated, committed and qualified 275 coworker owners. Because Moody’s is coworker owned, each and every coworker has a stake in the business, therefore a vested interest in being the best they can be.
Products: State of the art collision repairer with 12 collision locations, 2 commercial locations and 1 technical training facility.
Markets/customers: Moody’s repairs vehicles throughout Maine and southern NH. As the only Tesla certified shop in Maine our Biddeford, South Portland and Bangor locations repair vehicles throughout New England. With the recently opened commercial Heavy Duty facilities in Bangor and Gorham we have added the ability to repair all size of heavy-duty trucks throughout Maine and NH.
Career/job opportunities: Moody’s offers a friendly, upbeat and fast paced work environment with a strong focus on taking care of people: co-workers, customers and the surrounding communities. We have many opportunities for skilled craftsman with body tech and paint experience, however, if you have the will to work we will show you the way. We invest in our younger coworkers to get the technical training and supply the equipment to allow all our coworkers to move more efficiently. We are a growing company that provides ample opportunity to challenge yourself on a technical side as well as Leadership advancement.
Company Benefits: Moody’s offers a very strong benefits package. We are a coworker-owned company that has grown an average of 16% year over year since 2003. As a young coworker joining the company that compounding growth will make the Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) account a substantial part of retirement. We believe our co-workers are the strength of the company, as part of our compensation we offer quarterly profit sharing, Health Insurance that includes Dental & Vision, short term disability, PTO and earned time off for volunteering.
Technical Training Facility: Moody’s opened their own hands-on training facility for coworkers to advance their skills and confidence by working in a small group with a tenured experienced coworker in a program set up specifically for training. Our goal is to teach and encourage our new coworkers to build upon their current skill-level to reach that next step in their craft. We also collaborated with Maine DOL with a 3-year internship program. Our most recent graduates were honored at our company banquet in February.
Community engagement: We are very fortunate to have many loyal customers from each of the communities where we are located. As a way of thanking them we contribute to our local communities through financial support and volunteerism. We encourage our coworkers to partner with their communities, earning up to 24 hours of PTO time through service. We proudly financially support Maine Blue Collar Scholarship, provide toys for Toys for Tots, teach financial awareness classes for Junior Achievement at our local schools, cook meals at Ronald McDonald House and provide food donations to our local food pantries.
Sustainability: Leadership for environmental performance has helped us to maximize our energy efficiency and minimize our impact on the planet. We have a stake in the environment and our efforts include converting to waterborne paint, energy efficient lighting and a comprehensive recycling program.

“I was trusted at a young age to get in over my head and I’ve learned that if you’re willing to stretch outside your comfort zone there will always be something new to learn at Moody’s. Investing in our young coworkers is important to us, we now supply young apprentices with a tool box to get them started. We are an ESOP and I show young coworkers my balance, I try to instill in them where they could be long-term if they make the commitment now.”
