Shalom House is a leader in providing a wide array of support services and affordable housing options for people living with severe mental illness such as schizophrenia, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Shalom House provides a flexible continuum of care that meets people at their level of need and helps them to maintain their highest level of independence.
Shalom House assists people in moving away from dependence on the mental health system and toward community-based services and natural supports. Our overall goal is to help people with mental illness break through the barriers that make it difficult to recover from their illnesses. We accomplish this by:
• Providing the tools and support necessary for our clients to meet their needs so that they may focus on their recovery.
• Providing high quality, affordable, and stable housing coupled with quality mental health services.
• Amplify the voices of the mentally ill in the state of Maine so that policy makers’ choices are based on information rather than stereotypes.
We welcome the community to keep an eye on our social media pages and our website to see all upcoming events! There are also opportunities to collect in-kind donations of non-perishable foods, clothing, and hygiene products to benefit those we serve. If you are interested in supporting our work, please reach out to Emily Mitchell at Emily.Mitchell@ShalomHouseInc.org.
Shalom House welcomes financial contributions from individuals and organizations who wish to support those we serve. Contributions can be designated to a program or made without a designation.
• Annual Appeal
This direct mail and online appeal supports all programs administered by Shalom House. Contributing to the Annual Appeal allows donors to play a major role in providing those with mental illness with tools and opportunities to enhance their lives and regain their independence.
• Workplace Giving and Matching Gifts
Businesses can participate in nonprofit campaigns and matching programs to benefit Shalom House.
• Art Cards
By purchasing greeting cards featuring selected works from various Shalom House artists, donors can support the intersection of art and mental health. All proceeds benefit the Art Program, https://www.shalomhouseinc.org/shop/
• In Kind Donations
We are always accepting donations for our clients. Check out our wish list here: https://a.co/aOaobtN
