Sea Dog Brewing Co. expands to Fla.

Maine-based Sea Dog Brewing Co. is chasing warmer climes with multiple expansions to new brew pubs in Florida.

The Bangor Daily News reported that the brew pub, co-owned by Shipyard Brewing Co. founder Fred Forsley and Shipyard brewmaster Alan Pugsley, opened a location in Clearwater, Fla., in mid-January and will open a second in Orlando in mid-March.

Forsley told the newspaper that the company skipped expanding in the rest of the Eastern seaboard because "Mainer's don't go to Massachusetts, they go to Florida."

The Florida expansions will mostly serve beer made at Sea Dog's Bangor brewery, though the Clearwater location has a brewing operation on site, Forsley said.
