Schott inks $6M Brunswick hotel, apartment deal

Developer George Schott has signed a $6 million agreement to buy a 248-room hotel and more than 200 apartments that served as Navy housing at the former Brunswick Naval Air Station.

The Bangor Daily News reported Schott also plans to develop three more sites at the former base.

He plans to rent the hotel and apartments to the Navy, as he does with other formerly Navy-owned buildings he's purchased, to house crews assigned to ships under construction at Bath Iron Works.

Given the uncertainty of federal budget cuts, Schott told the paper his plans could eventually include leasing those properties to the general public.
