An oceanfront estate on 32 acres in the Knox County town of Saint George sold for $9.75 million, making it the highest-priced sale in Maine this year, the highest-priced property ever sold in Saint George, and the sixth-highest residential sale in state history.
The sale of the estate, called Seasmoke Farm and located at 76 Seasmoke Road, was also the highest in the 18-year history of Legacy Properties Sotheby’s International Realty, whose Camden agent, Brian Wickenden, represented the sellers in the deal.
Chris Lynch, the firm's founder and president, said the sale illustrated the firm’s marketing and global property distribution systems through its affiliation with Sotheby’s International Realty.
The midcoast property’s design was a collaboration between Portland landscape architects Mohr & Seredin, Alabama–based Cole & Cole Architects and Atlanta interior designer Suzanne Kasler.
According to the listing, the property was originally offered for $10.9 million.
It includes 1,843 feet of ocean frontage, a four-bedroom shingle style home with a deep water dock, a three-bedroom seasonal guest cottage with a deck and screened porch overlooking the ocean, a two-bedroom seasonal guest cottage overlooking the dock and fronting the ocean, and an outdoor swimming pool and fully equipped pool house with a one-bedroom guest suite and entertaining space.
There are also two custom-built barns on the property with an orchard and pasture land, an outdoor basketball court with a recreation building, a freshwater pond and landscaped grounds.
“Behind the power of the Sotheby’s International Realty brand, Seasmoke Farm had tremendous marketing reach, and the feedback it generated was resoundingly positive,” said Wickenden.
Seasmoke Farm was featured on multiple Sotheby’s International Realty affiliate offices’ social media platforms and email marketing campaigns, plus editorial features.
