Bangor Airport to start $8M renovation

The Bangor International Airport will undergo about $8 million in renovations starting early next year aimed at speeding up check-in times and making cosmetic improvements.

The Bangor Daily News reported the terminal upgrade projected will start in February and will be completed within 18 months. The project is funded through a combination of federal and state grants, passenger facility charges, Airport Improvement Program funds, the Transportation Security Administration and airport funds.

The latest announcement adds to $6 million the airport received in August for infrastructure upgrades.

Tony Caruso, the airport’s director, told the paper that the improvements will make the airport easier to use and more efficient, which he said could bring more people to book travel through the airport.
