BIW gets $47M contract

The Navy has awarded Bath Iron Works a $47.4 million contract to continue work on the DDG 51 class of destroyers.

The contract will be used to complete work on destroyers that have already been built and tested, according to a press release from Sen. Susan Collins' office. The work includes engineering support, craft assistance, and ordering and processing of materials. Work on these ships is expected to be completed by September 2012.
