Call center to open in Wilton

A London-based financial services firm will open a call center in Wilton this June, Maine governor John Baldacci said yesterday.

Barclays PLC will employ 50 people at the site, and plans to hire another 150 over the next 10 years, according to a press release from the company.

Workers at the site will provide customer service for Barclays' credit card division, which is headquartered in Wilmington, Del. The call center will be in the Nichols-Bass Business and Technology Center, the former home of the G.H. Bass Shoe Complex, the Morning Sentinel in Waterville reported.
