Camp gets $1.3M boost
Camp Sunshine in Casco received significant financial support this week, receiving a check for $365,000 and a $1 million pledge for an endowment fund.
Representatives from Tropical Smoothie Café presented Camp Sunshine with a check for $365,000 Monday, according to a release from the camp. The funds will be used to support the camp’s mission of assisting children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. The national sandwich and smoothie chain raised the funds during its sixth annual Flip Flop Day, which took place in June at more than 300 Tropical Smoothie Café locations across the country.
At a press conference yesterday, camp director Matthew Hoidal announced that Tropical Smoothie Café made an additional commitment to raise $1 million, representing the largest corporate endowment pledge ever made to the camp.
