Community college tuition to rise $2 per credit hour

Full-time, in-state students will see tuition costs rise about $60 as the Maine Community College System voted Friday to raise tuition rates $2 per credit hour.

Trustees told The Associated Press that Maine's community college costs, which have risen 25% in the past five years, remain the lowest in New England.

Meanwhile, the University of Maine System board of trustees voted last week to continue a tuition freeze for in-state undergraduate students if the Legislature agrees to hold funding flat in the biennial budget currently under review.
