“The museum’s dedication to celebrating Maine’s vital place in American art deeply resonates with me," said Moody. "I’m eager to work alongside the talented team and our generous community of supporters to strengthen the museum’s impact and ensure its continued growth for generations to come.”

Moody joins the Farnsworth from the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, where she most recently served as deputy chief officer for patrons. During her time with the museum, she oversaw all aspects of a program that generates more than $6.5 million annually from more than 2,000 households. In that role, she managed a portfolio of more than 200 donors.

Prior to her tenure at the Met, she held a series of leadership roles at the Frick Collection, advancing through positions in individual giving and membership from 2018 to 2024. She oversaw fundraising programs totaling more than $6 million annually, including the Director’s Circle, annual fund and membership programs, while managing a portfolio of 200 prospects and leading a five-person membership team.

Earlier in her career, she held development and program management roles at the University of Colorado Boulder and the University of Virginia.

“Her experience at some of the nation’s most respected art institutions and her deep commitment to advancing the arts will be invaluable as we enter this exciting next chapter for the museum," said Christopher Brownawell, executive director of the Farnsworth Art Museum.

Moody received her bachelor's degree in modern studies and English from the University of Virginia.

Museum expansion

The Farnsworth Art Museum acquired a 12,000-square-foot, three-story building at 265 Main St. in February to expand its retail store and educational galleries, which are now branded the 265 Arts Gallery & Design Store.

The new store opened on July 11

The gallery was designed to serve as a flexible space for community engagement such as public programs, art workshops and special events. It will offer branded Farnsworth merchandise, framed prints, lighting, textiles and décor inspired by the museum’s art collection and the Maine coast.

About the Farnsworth

It also has one of the nation’s largest collections of works by sculptor Louise Nevelson, who spent part of her childhood in Rockland.
