FirstPark, a business campus in Oakland, recently sold four lots to a developer planning a solar farm with over 6,000 panels.

Oakland FirstPark Solar LLC purchased the four lots for $499,500. They are located north of T-Mobile’s 133 FirstPark Drive facility and front Interstate 95.

“We are very excited to be located within FirstPark because it is an ideal location to expand our presence in Maine,” said Oakland FirstPark Solar LLC’s principal, Christian Loranger.

The power will be available to residential subscribers and small local businesses, producing enough energy to power over 200 Maine households. Construction is expected to run from the second to third quarters next year.

FirstPark, a business park in Oakland, finalized the sale of lots 19-22, on the northeast side, for development of a 6,154-panel solar array.

The project will provide energy to current and future businesses within FirstPark and in the region, said Michelle Flewelling, president of the Kennebec Regional Development Authority.

The park was established in 2000 by the authority, which was formed by the state Legislature in 1998.

The 285-acre campus comprises 17 shovel-ready, pre-permitted sites with protective covenants, ranging from five to 24 total acres. Today, the park is home to 16 businesses, including anchor tenant T‐Mobile, a call center that employs more than 800 people.

The park is 15 miles north of Augusta. A 1,500-foot access road connects the park to the entrance on Kennedy Memorial Drive.

In addition to the sale of the four lots, the park has recently seen more interest in other available property, according to Executive Director Jim Dinkle.

“Over the past year, FirstPark has seen new construction and fresh pavement,” he said.
