Gorham Savings puts up $30K in contest

A new Gorham Savings Bank contest offers $30,000 to the business idea that can make it through a panel of judges and a final round of online votes.

The new contest, called "Launchpad," is open to businesses registered in Maine and Maine residents and, according to the contest website, seeks "a viable business idea that has the potential to benefit the Maine economy."

Contest applications will be open until Feb. 25 and will undergo review by a panel of judges who will select 10 semifinalists to move on to a "Shark Tank"-like 5-minute pitch to a panel of judges. Out of three finalists, a community vote on the bank's website will determine the winner of the grand prize.
