New hires

Fluid Imaging Technologies Inc., a laboratory instrumentation manufacturer in Yarmouth, recently hired Barry Godowsky, Becky Metivier and Adam Stevens. Godowsky, previously the vice president of sales at Artel Inc. in Westbrook, was hired as vice president of industrial sales; Metivier, previously the marketing manager at The Baker Co. in Sanford, joined the firm as vice president of marketing; and Stevens, previously a project manager at Contech Engineered Solutions in Scarborough, was hired as a field technician.

 

Maine Spinecare in Auburn recently hired Matthew McLaughlin. McLaughlin, previously with Wellington Orthopaedics in Cincinnati, is a physiatrist who specializes in the non-surgical management of spinal disorders and pain.

Bangor Savings Bank recently hired Danielle Burke as vice president, treasury and payment services officer.

Know Technology, an IT provider in Portland, recently hired Brandon Galarneau as an account manager and Quentin Tardiff as a senior technical account manager.

Mid-Coast Energy Systems in Damariscotta recently hired Stephanie Gallagher in customer service.

The directors of Macpage LLC, a CPA firm in South Portland, recently hired Heather Pelletier, Meredith Schalk and Christopher Tolford. Pelletier has joined the firm as audit staff; Schalk was hired as an audit and accounting staff accountant; and Tolford joined as an audit supervisor.

Tilson, an IT and telecom company in Portland, recently announced several new hires. Jason Sacco, previously a project manager and field engineer at Earthlink Business, was hired as a senior consultant on the network team. Cameron McNutt and Jeff Coffin were hired as consultants in the utilities division. McNutt was previously a lead field technician for Trilliant Networks while Coffin was with Midcoast Internet. Ben Guerette, previously a corporate trainer with a firm in Denver, was hired as a consultant in the wireless division.

 

Coffee News, a publishing company in Bangor, recently hired Abbie Armstrong as an executive assistant to the president. Armstrong was most recently the business and marketing manager for Mission Lights.

The board of directors of Greater Portland Transit District recently selected Gregory Jordan as METRO's new general manager. Jordan, who starts in September, has more than 20 years of experience in the transportation industry and is currently as the deputy public works director in Tempe, Ariz.

Maine Internet Radio recently hired Paul Dupuis as host of the Coastal Café. Dupuis has worked for more than 15 years in radio in Bangor.

Environmental Projects Inc., a universal waste disposal and site clean-up company in Auburn, recently hired Bill David as sales and marketing manager. Previously, David was a sales and media manager in the automobile industry.

Sterling Rope Co. Inc. in Biddeford recently hired Mattison Crowe as director of marketing. Crowe was previously brand manager for Craft Performance Apparel.

TD Bank recently hired Shawn Leger as store manager at One Portland Square in Portland. Leger was previously branch manager, vice president at KeyBank in South Portland.

Auburn Savings Bank recently hired Josh Tainter as mortgage loan underwriter and secondary market coordinator. Previously, Tainter worked as a credit analyst at the Bank of Maine.

The Maine Bar Foundation recently hired Diana Scully as executive director. Scully was most recently senior director for state services, National Association for States United for Aging and Disabilities, based in Washington, D.C.

Machias Savings Bank recently hired LeeAnne Boutaugh as a mortgage specialist at its Bangor location. Boutaugh was most recently the loan servicing team manager for Bank of America.

Head to Toe Physical Therapy in Topsham recently hired Christine Mecham as its public relations coordinator. Mecham has more than 13 years of marketing experience in the financial and construction industries.

Target Marketing Maine, a direct and digital marketing company in Rockland, recently hired Sarah Manfredo as a customer service representative. Manfredo has a background in sales and customer service most recently in the financial industry.

cPort Credit Union in Portland recently hired Peter Lacy as director of compliance and audit. Lacy previously worked at Maine Revenue Services.

Coldwell Banker Sandy River Realty recently hired Lisa Frost Libby as a sales agent. She was previously the assistant manager for a building supply company.

Promotions

Fluid Imaging Technologies Inc., a laboratory instrumentation manufacturer in Yarmouth, recently promoted Robert Chatfield to vice president of finance. Chatfield was previously the company's CFO.

People's United Bank in Portland recently promoted Amy Maheux to customer service manager in Portland and Tanya Hussey to financial services manager, assistant vice president in South Berwick.

Target Marketing Maine, a direct and digital marketing company in Rockland, recently promoted Nichole Quinn to in-house sales representative. Quinn previously served as a customer service representative.

Machias Savings Bank recently promoted Kari Reynolds to retail banking and branch operations. Reynolds, a vice president, has been with the bank for more than 20 years and most recently worked as the Machias branch manager.

Appointments

Woodard & Curran, an engineering, science, and operations company in Portland and Bangor, recently announced that Ken Bird, Shannon Eyler, Pat O'Hara and David Remick were elected stockholders of the firm.

The Foundation for Maine's Community Colleges board of directors recently announced Sterling Kozlowski and Lawrence Wold as new members. Kozlowski is regional sales executive – market president of KeyCorp's New England District and Wold is Maine market president for TD Bank.

Pine Tree Society, a statewide organization serving Maine children and adults with disabilities, recently named David Hines to its board of directors. Hines is the managing director of HM Payson, an investment advisory firm with offices in Portland and Damariscotta.

Maine Audubon recently announced that Andy Beahm is the new president of its board of trustees. Beahm is the vice president-internal audit and assistant treasurer at L.L.Bean. Melissa Culllina, Tilsley Kelly, Ric McKittrick and William Weickert were also appointed to the board. Cullina is the director of education and staff botanist for Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay; Kelly is vice president of the Sprague Corp.; McKittrick serves of counsel to the firm McKittrick and Warren in Portland; and Weickert is managing director and head of the portfolio management group and co-manager of the Payson Total Return Fund at H.M. Payson & Co. in Portland.

The Frances Perkins Center in Damariscotta recently elected the Hon. Neil Rolde to its board of directors. A former speaker of the Maine House of Representatives, Rolde is also an author and philanthropist.

The Maine Bankers Association recently elected Richard Vail, president and CEO of Mechanics Savings Bank, as association chairman.

Albin, Randall & Bennett, a CPA firm in Portland, recently announced that Robin Cyr was elected to serve on the Maine Estate Planning Council's board of directors. Cyr, a manager with the firm, will serve a three-year term.

Joseph Cassidy, an attorney and member of the Washington County Community College faculty, was recently appointed president of the college. In addition, the board elected Robert Clark as chair and Carol Epstein as vice chair for 2013-14. Clark is executive director of the Northern Maine Development Commission in Caribou. Epstein is president of Epstein Commercial Real Estate in Bangor.

WinterKids, a nonprofit in Portland, recently added Scott Balentine, Hillary Dacko-Roy and Duncan Stout to its board of directors. Balentine is a senior product developer for L.L.Bean; Dacko-Roy is a retail operations specialist at Hannaford; and Stout is a partner at CD&M Communications in Portland.

The Maine Real Estate & Development Association, a statewide organization of commercial real estate owners, developers and related service providers, recently elected Dick Prentice to its board of directors. Prentice is a partner in the real estate group at Pierce Atwood. Achievements

The 2013 Maine Downtown Achievement Awards were recently announced. Eastport received the Outstanding Downtown Network Community of the year award; historic preservation awards went to the Waterville Opera House and 265 Main Street in Biddeford; promotion of the year, Main Street Bath; Outstanding Green Downtowns Project, Bath Custom House; Downtown Business of the Year, Belfast's Front Street Shipyard; and the Maine Downtown Visionary award was presented to Amber Lambke, Somerset Grist Mill in Skowhegan. It was also announced that Augusta has joined 10 other designated Main Street communities in Maine.

Avesta Housing, a nonprofit developer of affordable housing, recently awarded the 2013 Mike Yandell Award for extraordinary work in the field of affordable housing to John Ryan, president of Wright-Ryan Construction.

The Publicity Club of New England recently recognized FairPoint Communications Inc., with its Bell Ringer Merit Distinction award for the company's efforts to stop lottery scams targeted at the elderly, especially across Maine.

ReEnergy Holdings, a renewable energy producer in Augusta, recently achieved certification to the Sustainable Forestry Initiative Standard. The certification verifies that the company's biomass procurement program promotes land stewardship and responsible forestry practices.

Kaplan Thompson Architects in Portland recently received the 2013 Best Energy-Smart Home award from Fine Homebuilding magazine for its Flying Point home in Freeport. Architects Jesse Thompson and Richard Lo designed the contemporary home with energy efficiency as a primary goal, achieving LEED platinum certification and exceeding Passive House air-sealing standards by 30%.

Rudman Winchell, a law firm in Bangor, recently announced that five of its attorneys and four of its practice areas were recognized by Chambers and Partners for excellence.

The Maine Chapter of Construction Specifications Institute recently recognized WBRC Architects/Engineers with an Award for Excellence in Construction Project Delivery for its role in the Cross Insurance Center project management team.

Kennebec Behavioral Health recently announced its annual award winners. The Greater Somerset Public Health Collaborative received the Outstanding Community Partnership Award and Augusta's Cross Café was presented with the James R. Schmidt Award.

MEMIC, a workers' compensation insurer in Portland, recently presented awards for workplace safety. Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution recently announced that Donald Lauzier was the recipient of the 2012 Kany Community Service Award. Lauzier was nominated by fellow bank employees for his 40 years of service to the community.

Opticliff Law, a law firm in Portland, announced associate Chelsea Callanan was recently named to the 2013 New England Rising Stars Super Lawyer List.

Know Technology, an IT provider in Portland, recently received a top May partner award from Microsoft Corp. Michael White, senior account consultant with the firm, was recognized for assisting in allowing the company to reach its goal to drive growth to the cloud with Office 365 sales.

Shipyard Brewing Co.'s Pugsley's Signature Series Smashed Blueberry, Bourbon Barrel Aged Double Scottish Ale and Old Thumper Extra Special Ale were recently honored with silver awards at the 2013 Los Angeles International Commercial Beer Competition. A total of 647 beers competed in 84 categories.

Lawyers of Color recently selected Verrill Dana attorney Calvin Woo to its 100 early- to mid-career hot list for minority attorneys from the eastern region. Woo practices from the firm's Stamford, Conn., office.

The Maine Hospital Association announced that Miki MacDonald was recently named its 2013 Caregiver of the Year. MacDonald is a family nurse practitioner at St. Joseph Internal Medicine in Bangor.

SnowEast Magazine readers recently listed Saddleback third overall in favorite eastern resort. The resort was also rated first for its grooming, second for snowmaking, third for favorite scenic view and fifth for terrain park.

The Maine Potato Board recently announced that the Wayne and Gregg Garrison family of Blaine was named its 2013 Farm Family of the Year.

Rotary Club of Bangor recently named three community members as Paul Harris Fellows. Stephen Rich, Earl Black and Arthur Comstock were recognized for their exemplary service at the organization's annual awards luncheon.

Celeste Branham, University of Maine at Farmington vice president for student and community services, was recently awarded a Fulbright Scholarship for study in Germany this fall. Branham was one of only 20 higher education administrators in the United States selected to participate in the program.

Pottle's Transportation driver Ronald Round recently repeated as grand champion and took first place in the four-axle, the written test and pre-trip competition during the 2013 Maine Motor Transportation Association Truck Driving Championship held at Dysart's Truck Stop in Bangor. Randy Chaloux, an owner operator, placed second in the Sleeper Division and the company also captured the Team Trophy.

Camden National Corp., recently announced it has been named to Forbes' list of the 100 Most Trustworthy Companies in America. The firm was evaluated along with more than 8,000 other companies traded on U.S. Exchanges by GMI Ratings, an independent risk research firm that provides a statistically modeled assessment of corporate integrity.
