LePage, MITC to lead trade mission to Latin America

Gov. Paul LePage and the Maine International Trade Center will lead a trade mission this fall to Mexico and Colombia, where some Maine companies have found ready markets.

The governor's office and MITC announced the mission today and have opened an invitation to Maine companies to register for the trip.

This will be the first trip by a Maine trade delegation to Colombia. The last trade mission to Mexico was in 2001.

Mexico is now the second-largest export market for the United States and the third-largest trading partner.

In a joint press release, the governor's office and MITC said the top exports to Mexico include paper, motor vehicle parts, vaccines, fruits and nuts, diagnostic materials, medical products and plastics.

Find more information about the trip and register by Sept. 7 at mitc.com.
