Maine ski resorts upgrade for coming season

With an eye toward the upcoming season, Maine's ski resorts are making a number of new investments this year, according to the Sun Journal.

Both Sunday River and Sugarloaf plan to add 300 new snow guns, an investment Sunday River estimated at around $1 million.

The paper reported, based on a press release from the Ski Maine Association, that Sunday River conducted a first snow-making test on Oct. 13 and plans to open as soon as possible. Sugarloaf plans to open for the season on Nov. 16.

The release also mentioned improvements at Black Mountain, Shawnee Peak, Mt. Abram and Saddleback resorts, the latter of which plans to open Dec. 15.
