Mainebiz hosts free webinar next week on what 'open' means for operations

As more and more Maine businesses resume brick-and-mortar operation, Mainebiz will present a free webinar on June 23 to help them gear up.

“What Does Open Look Like? Part Two: Operating in the New Normal” will feature an expert panel discussing the preparations needed as workers and customers come in the door.

Panelists will be: Catherine Lamson, senior vice president and chief administrative officer at workers’ compensation insurer MEMIC; Katy Rand, partner, Pierce Atwood LLC; Nancy Marshall, founder and CEO, Marshall Communications; and Rhoda McVeigh, consultant and regional director, KMA Human Resources.

The experts will discuss a broad range of topics to consider:

1. Create a workplace that is low risk: What is required of an employer? What can be required of our employees?

2. Managing your employees

  • Hiring, on-boarding, layoffs during these times
  • Bringing people back from layoffs
  • Returning workers from furlough or layoff
  • What if they don’t want to come back?
  • Managing a combination of remote and in-house workers
  • Productivity and mental health issues such as stress and fear in the workplace

3. What do vendors, customers and staff need or want to know: Best practices for internal and external communication

In May, Mainebiz held a first webinar on “What Does Open Look Like,” and a replay is available here.

“What Does Open Look Like? Part Two” will run from 11 a.m. to noon, June 23, via Zoom. Participation is free; to register, click here.
