The leaders behind Build Homes, Build Community — a new coalition advocating for pro-housing solutions — will take part in a panel discussion Wednesday, Jan. 14, at the University of Southern Maine, hosted by the Maine Real Estate and Development Association.
The panel will be made up of MEREDA President Shannon Richards, who is founder of Portland-based Hay Runner; Laura Mitchell, with the Maine Affordable Housing Coalition; and Patrick Woodcock, president of the Maine State Chamber of Commerce.
The moderator will be Bev Uhlenhake, government affairs consultant with the law firm Pierce Atwood.
"Maine’s housing shortage undermines all our communities and our entire statewide economy," Woodcock said. "This coalition is here to change Maine’s trajectory by implementing pragmatic solutions that unlock housing development and allow our communities and our people to thrive.”
The event will be held in the McGoldrick Career and Student Center at USM, 35 Bedford St. in Portland and begins with a buffet breakfast at 8:30 a.m. The program will begin at 9 a.m. Registration is at the MEREDA web site.
