New Hires

Bar Harbor Bank & Trust recently hired Marcia Mansfield as vice president/financial consultant with Bar Harbor Financial Services in Rockland. Mansfield was previously with Acadia Financial Consultants in Camden.

Allen Insurance and Financial in Camden recently hired Lindsey Eaton as a scanning associate.

Albin, Randall & Bennett, a CPA firm in Portland, recently hired Benjamin Lord as a manager. Previously Lord was a manager at BerryDunn.

The Maine Community Foundation recently hired Amy Morley as executive assistant. Morley most recently was the director of operations for the Institute for Humane Education in Surry.

Apothecary by Design Pharmacy in Portland recently hired Frank Jamison as a full-time pharmacist. Jamison, a member of the University of New England's College of Pharmacy inaugural class, had previously worked part time at the pharmacy.

St.Germain Collins, an environmental consulting and engineering firm in Westbrook, recently hired Anthony Ortiz as an environmental scientist. Ortiz was previously an environmental health and safety coordinator for a national lawn and garden company in the Lewiston-Auburn area.

MGA Cast Stone, an architectural precast company in Oxford, recently hired David Swasey as CFO. Swasey was previously the firm administrator for Berry Talbot Royer in Falmouth.


Piper Shores, nonprofit retirement community in Scarborough, recently hired Kim Goren as human resources director. Previously, Goren was a human resources business partner at Maine Mental Health Partners in Westbrook.

The Portland Symphony Orchestra recently hired Norman Huynh as assistant conductor and community liaison. Previously Huynh was a cover conductor for the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.


Fluid Imaging Technologies Inc., an imaging particle analyzer manufacturer in Yarmouth, recently announced three new hires. Chris Crocker was hired as a production technician; Ethan Ehlers as sales coordinator for industrial markets; and Kandace Wagner as office manager.


York County Community College in Wells recently named Christopher Hall as interim president. Hall was previously president of the American University in Kosovo.

Varney Agency in Bangor recently hired Paula DiMillo as a senior account executive for its Scarborough office. DiMillo has 28 years of commercial insurance experience.

Benchmark Residential & Investment Real Estate in Portland recently hired Jeff Perry. Perry, previously a project manager with Sebago Technics, has more than 25 years of experience in real estate valuation, consulting, development and home inspections.

Abierto Networks LLC, a digital marketing and payment technologies provider for the North American convenience store industry in Eliot, recently hired Carol Hayes as business development manager. Hayes was most recently director of business development at Volicon Inc., in Burlington, Mass.

Fontaine, a real estate company in Auburn, recently hired Roger Begin. Previously with ERA Worden Realty in Auburn, Begin has more than 11 years of experience as a Realtor and he holds a Maine Associate Brokers License.

The Portland Museum of Art recently hired Marney McKenney as membership manager. McKenney was previously the director of membership at the Farnsworth Art Museum in Rockland.

University of Maine at Farmington recently hired Kelly Dodge as vice president for university advancement. Dodge most recently worked as the dean of institutional advancement with Maine Central Institute in Pittsfield.

Hall Internet Marketing in Portland recently hired Luda Paliyenko-Sherman as marketing assistant.

Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution recently hired Kevin Shangraw as residential loan officer. Shangraw was previously a mortgage loan officer with both Downeast Mortgage and North American Mortgage.

Promotions

MGA Cast Stone, an architectural precast company in Oxford, recently promoted Alisa Irish to project coordinator. Irish was previously the project sales assistant.

Androscoggin Bank recently announced the promotion of five individuals. Christopher Logan was promoted to chief lending officer and executive vice president; Dave Eldridge to manager — commercial lending, senior vice president; Bob Stone to manager – business and government services, senior vice president; Rhonda Hamel to project manager, vice president; and Britany Hustus to manger – commercial administration, assistant vice president.

Back Cove Yachts in Rockland recently promoted Jason Constantine to president of both North End Composites and Back Cove Yachts. Constantine will continue to assume the responsibilities of COO for both companies.

Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution recently promoted James Whelan, Julie Cyr, Caitlin Binette and Michele Tanguay. Whelan was promoted to vice president and business loan officer, Cyr to information services specialist, Binette to loan servicing clerk and Tanguay to business operations specialist.

Out in the Open Adventures, a Portland outfitter providing outdoor holidays for the LGBT community and others, recently promoted Kevin Scheller to COO. Scheller was previously director of marketing.

Town & Country Federal Credit Union in South Portland recently announced several promotions. Nicole Sears, previously human resources manager, was promoted to vice president and chief people officer; Pamela Kane, most recently vice president of administration, to vice president and chief administration officer; Robert Leger, previously the CFO, to vice president and CFO; and Jessica Schneckloth, previously collections supervisor, to collections manager.

Appointments

Preti Flaherty, a law firm in Portland, recently announced that Sharon Newman was appointed to serve on the Environmental Technology Board of the Maine Technology Institute. Newman, an environmental partner with the firm, will serve a three-year term on the nine-member board.

The Portland Trails board of trustees recently elected Andy Abrams as president of the board. Abrams, the vice president of information technology at the United Way of Greater Portland, has served on the executive, outreach, membership and executive search committees. Additional new officers include Rob Levin, vice president; Susan McClain, treasurer; and Heather Chandler, secretary. Stephen Wells and Nathanial Dyer were elected to the board.

Furman Gregory Deptula LLP, a law firm in Biddeford, recently announced that Karin Gregory was appointed to the Food and Drug Law Institute's Food and Dietary Supplements Committee. The committee advises staff on the appropriateness of conferences and publications relating to foods and dietary supplements by reviewing and commenting on proposals.

The Maine Municipal Association recently announced that Linda Cohen, a council member for the city of South Portland, was named to its executive committee. Cohen currently works as director of development at LearningWorks in Portland, as a loan officer at Cumberland County Mortgage and as a Realtor at The Maine Real Estate Network.

The Ski Maine Association board of directors recently announced its officers: President, Dana Bullen, president and general manager, Sunday River; vice president, Kevin Rosenberg, general manager, Mt. Abram; secretary, Linc Hayes, co-owner, Lost Valley; and treasurer, Bill Fitzgerald, mountain manager, Camden Snow Bowl.

The Maine Community Foundation recently announced the appointment of George Shaw as chairman and Dighton Spooner as vice-chairman of its board of directors. Shaw was an attorney at Hemenway & Barnes in Boston, specializing in estate and charitable planning and trust administration. Spooner is associate director of career planning at Bowdoin College.

Agren Appliance & Television in Auburn was honored recently by the Institute for Family-Owned Business with the 2013 Maine Family Business Award in the large business category. Award recipients were selected for their business success, positive business and family linkages, contributions to community and industry, family participation, work environment, communication and business practices and strategies.

Ocean Renewable Power Co. LLC in Portland and Orono Spectral Solutions Inc., in Bangor were recently presented with a Small Business Innovation Research Tibbetts Award for research and development from the federal government and for success in driving innovation and creating new jobs. The companies were among 18 recognized nationally.

Bernstein Shur, a law firm in Portland, announced that Karen Aframe, leader of the firm's Manchester, N.H., labor and employment practice group, was recently honored with the Business and Industry Association of New Hampshire's Above and Beyond Award. The firm also announced that attorney Robert Keach recently received Star Individual recognition by Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business 2013 for his bankruptcy work. In addition, the firm received top rankings in corporate mergers and acquisitions (including bankruptcy), energy and natural resources and real estate. The Portland and Augusta offices were recognized for their environment, labor and employment and general commercial litigation practice groups. And 30 of its attorneys were individually ranked among the nation's top lawyers, including 10 who ranked in the top band of their areas of practice.

Norton Financial Services, an insurance and financial company in Cumberland Foreside, recently announced that Catherine Desrochers earned her Registered Health Underwriter designation. The designation is focused exclusively on health insurance.

The Washington County Leadership Institute recently completed its 17th year of providing citizens with the skills, insight and professional network to be more effective leaders. The National Association of Educational Procurement recently presented the University of Maine System with an Award for Excellence in Procurement at its annual recognition awards held in Orlando. The award is given on the basis of a procurement department's contribution to, and support of, the mission of their institution.

Avatar Solutions, a survey, data measurement, and performance improvement company, recently recognized The Aroostook Medical Center with two awards: The Exceeding Patient Expectations Award, presented to organizations that deliver care beyond what is expected by patients in a number of areas including quality of care and reliability; and the Blue Sail Award, recognizing efforts that have proven to transform "blue sky thinking" into effective action.

Good Shepherd Food-Bank recently announced a $25,000 grant from Morgan Stanley to fund its School Pantry Program, a child hunger initiative that helps to make sure that low-income families have a readily accessible source of healthy and nutritious food to prepare at home.

Strategic Maintenance Solutions, an enterprise resource planning and asset management systems company in Gorham, was recently accredited as an AAA-Level Accredited Partner in IBM Tivoli Maximo Asset Management.

Consigli Construction Co. Inc., in Portland was recently ranked No. 81 among the top-400 construction management firms in the nation by Engineering News-Record magazine. The annual survey ranks the largest general contractors in the United States, both publicly and privately held, based on construction contracting-specific revenue. The company was also ranked 73rd in new contracts and 36th in domestic general building revenue.

Might & Main, a design firm in Portland, recently won Best of Show at the 2013 HOW Promotion Design Awards. The firm was selected from nearly 1,000 entries for creating the brand and supporting materials for Eventide Oyster Co., in Portland.

The Greater Bangor Convention and Visitors Bureau recently honored three individuals at its 2013 Tourism and Hospitality Eagle Awards. The Tourism Employee of the Year Award went to Penny Bostwick of the Days Inn, Bangor; The Maureen Waltz Spirit of Hospitality Award was awarded to Jason Spivey of the Lucerne Inn; and the Volunteer of the Year Award, was given to Thomas Palmer III.

The Department of Environmental Protection recently recognized five stewards of sustainability with environmental achievement awards.
