New hires

Fontaine Family – The Real Estate Leader in Auburn hired Nadine Williamson.

Compass Commercial Brokers LLC in Portland hired Josh Soley. Soley was previously with NAI/The Dunham Group.

Woodard & Curran, an integrated engineering, science and operations company in Portland, hired Becky Corbin as a principal and project manager on its compliance services team.

U.S. Rep. Chellie Pingree hired Robert McCann to work in her Portland office through the Congressional Wounded Warrior Program. McCann is a former Marine.

Pierce Atwood LLP, a law firm in Portland, hired Andrew Davis as an associate in the firm's litigation practice group. Previously, Davis was a litigation associate with Hiller PC.

The board of directors of the Waterville Opera House hired Catherine Palmer as executive director. Palmer was previously executive director of the Marginal Way Preservation Fund in Ogunquit.

Spinnaker Trust in Portland hired Bob Gould as an executive vice president and principal. Gould was previously a general partner of Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. of Boston.

Maine Aero Services at the Bangor International Airport hired Matt Saucier as a member of its avionics team.

Boston Partners Financial Group in Kennebunk hired Seth Fenn. Fenn was previously a small business owner.

St. Mary's Health System in Lewiston hired Christopher Chekouras as president and CEO. He will start in October, with the retirement of President and CEO Lee Myles. Chekouras is currently senior vice president of post-acute and community-based services at Virtua in New Jersey.

Unity College hired Paula Noonan as lead animal room caretaker for the college's distinctive Captive Wildlife Care and Education program. Previously, Noonan served as seasonal field technician on the small-mammal team for NEON Inc. in Fitchburg, Mass.

Diversified Communications, an international media company in Portland, hired Linda Jenkins as a corporate paralegal, Ian Schwartz as a financial analyst and Rosalyn Metzger as a senior market research analyst.

Inn by the Sea in Cape Elizabeth hired Jessica Stowell as director of sales and marketing. Stowell was most recently regional director of sales for Colwen Hotels.

Shaheen & Gordon, a law firm in Saco, hired Karen Lovell. Lovell was previously a shareholder at Bernstein Shur in Portland.

Tedford Housing, a nonprofit agency in Brunswick working to find solutions to end homelessness, hired Jennifer Iacovelli as director of development.

St.Germain Collins, an environmental consulting and engineering firm in Westbrook hired Kathryn Deneroff as a regulatory specialist; Edward Bartlett as an environmental, health and safety specialist; Wyeth Bowdoin as an environmental scientist; and Maura Ryan as marketing director.

The Maine Women's Fund in Falmouth hired Lauren Webster LaFrance as communications and marketing director. Previously Webster LaFrance was assistant to the director in the Women & Gender Studies Program at the University of Southern Maine.

Macpage LLC, a CPA firm in South Portland, hired Bill Ross as a manager in consulting services.

St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Lewiston hired Michael Newman as medical director of the hospital's orthopaedic service line.

Summit Utilities Inc., a natural gas distributor in Augusta, hired Bryan Little as vice president of government and regulatory affairs.

DMM Inc., a direct marketing and digital document provider in Scarborough, hired Christopher Hyfield as human resources manager. Hyfield previously served as human resources specialist with SironaHealth in South Portland.

Putney Inc., a pet pharmaceutical company in Portland, hired Gary Eaton as vice president of sales and marketing. Eaton was previously with IDEXX.

CIEE: Council on International Educational Exchange in Portland hired Meghann Curtis as executive vice president of International Exchange Programs. Previously, Curtis was deputy assistant secretary for educational and cultural affairs with the U.S. Department of State.

Franklin Health Pediatrics in Farmington hired Pediatrician Ryan Whitt.

Waterville Creates!, an arts council and collaborative consortium in Waterville, hired Nate Rudy as executive director, KiKA Nigals as program manager, Dick Dyer as marketing director and Marie Sugden as executive assistant.

The American Heart Association hired Pat Lemieux as director of corporate events for central Maine. Lemieux was previously with the Bangor Daily News.

Promotions

Pierce Atwood LLP, a law firm in Portland, announced that Sarah Tracy, an attorney in the firm's energy practice group, was named partner.

Compass Commercial Brokers LLC in Portland promoted Jennifer Davies to director of operations.

Junior Achievement of Maine in Portland promoted Michelle Anderson to president and Jill Jamison to director of operations. Anderson was most recently marketing and program director while Jamison oversaw programming and operations in central and northern Maine.

Thornton Tomasetti, an engineering design, investigation and analysis firm in Portland, promoted Colin Schless to associate and Amanda Lehman to senior project director.

Delta Ambulance in Waterville promoted Chip Getchell to quality (improvement) manager.

cPort Credit Union in Portland promoted Elizabeth Webber to member service representative and Tammy Jackson to assistant branch manager. Webber was previously a teller while Jackson was a senior member service representative.

Unity College promoted Alecia Sudmeyer to director of marketing and communications. Sudmeyer was the college's webmaster and marketing liaison.

Penobscot Community Health Care promoted Dawn Cook to COO. Cook was chief practice officer.

BerryDunn, a CPA and consulting firm in Portland, promoted Lisa Openshaw and Jason Fournier to principals and elected Tim Masse to the firm's management committee.

Cressey's Apartments in Gorham has recently promoted Stephanie Cressey to office manager.

Appointments

Vera Roberts, senior vice president, commercial regional manager at Camden National Bank in Camden, was appointed to Maine's Permanent Commission on the Status of Women.

Tedford Housing, a nonprofit agency working to find solutions to end homelessness, recently elected new officers to its board of directors including: Craig McEwen, president; John Carson, vice president; Sarah Piper, treasurer; and Nonny Soifer, secretary. McEwen is a retired educator; Carson is the minister of Elijah Kellogg Church in Harpswell; Piper is commercial lending assistant at Bath Savings Institution; and Soifer is an attorney at Office of Nonny Soifer Esq.

The Regional Board of the American Red Cross elected Gary Merrill, Hussey Seating, chair; Gregory Sanborn, Baker Newman Noyes, first vice chair; Laura Rideout, Preti Flaherty Beliveau & Pachios, second vice chair; and Eileen Kalikow, Vocational Resources, secretary. In addition, the board added Jill Gravel, L.L.Bean; Suzanne Jones, General Dynamics Ordinance and Tactical Systems; and Susan Pope, Kennebunk Savings Bank as new members.

RE/MAX By the Bay in Portland announced David Marsden, Elise Kiely, The Dambrie Garon Group and The David Banks Team ranked among the highest sales associates in New England for the month of May.

United Way of York County presented its Elise Kittredge Award for volunteerism to Jim Fitzgerald, a broker associate at Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage.

Central Maine Power Co., a subsidiary of Iberdrola USA, and the Gulf of Maine Research Institute were recipients of 2015 Smart Grid Customer Education Awards presented by SmartEnergy IP to utilities and partner organizations that have demonstrated leadership through customer education in their Smart Grid deployments.

DMM Inc., a digital document and direct marketing company in Scarborough, received a silver award for technique in Best Print Production for the American Red Cross program titled, “Red & White Ball - Designs for Hope and A Salute to Service” from the New England Direct Marketing Association.

Five County Credit Union announced that Julie Marquis recently completed the Credit Union Executive Society executive education program to earn her Certified Chief Executive designation. Marquis is executive vice president of the credit union.

Beth Skypeck, a Portland-based senior travel advisor for Direct Travel Inc., was honored by the Tourist Board of Saint Lucia with its Piton Award recognizing top-booking travel agents and agencies as part of the island's Preferred Agent Saint Lucia Specialist education and training program.

Twenty2 Vodka, distilled by The Northern Maine Distilling Co. in Brewer, announced it received a bronze level distinction from The Spirits International Prestige Award and a gold level distinction from the Craft Spirits Competition.

The Nonantum Resort in Kennebunkport was inducted into TripAdvisor's Hall of Fame by earning a Certificate of Excellence for five straight years.

Ray Emery, an independent financial advisor affiliated with Commonwealth Financial Network and financial consultant of Norton Financial Services in Cumberland, achieved Commonwealth Summit Club status for 2015. This distinction recognizes financial advisors based on a ranking of annual production among Commonwealth's network of approximately 1,600 financial advisors.

Peter Harrington, partner and associate broker at Malone Commercial Brokers in Portland, was a speaker at the International Council of Shopping Center's “Next Generation Program & Reception,” which was held in June in Portland.

Bowdoin College in Brunswick was recognized by Environmental Protection Agency with a 2015 Energy Star Combined Heat and Power award for its energy efficiency efforts.
