New hires

Ethos Marketing in Westbrook hired Eben Peck as digital advertising specialist. Peck was previously senior digital strategist at Octane Marketing.

Skowhegan Savings hired John Butera and Steve Gray as vice presidents of commercial lending. Butera was previously commissioner of the Maine Department of Labor and worked as the senior economic advisor for the LePage administration while Gray was co-owner of Franklin Chrysler in Farmington.

Animal Welfare Society in Kennebunk hired Dana Falsetta as behavior and training program coordinator in its Canine Training Department. Falsetta was a certified professional dog trainer and certified behavior consultant canine with Philly Unleashed Dog Training in Philadelphia, Pa.

The Maine Community Foundation in Ellsworth hired John Ochira as program officer. Previously, Ochira was a disability benefit specialist at Unum.

Maine Academy of Modern Music in Portland hired Clifford Cameron, Devon Colella and Chris Wilkes as faculty members. Cameron is a multi-instrumentalist, Colella a classically-trained cellist and Wilkes a professional drummer and educator.

Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington hired Jacob Ledesma as a provider at Franklin Health Internal Medicine and on the hospital’s inpatient unit. Ledesma has 19 years of patient care experience.

RE/MAX Shoreline in Portland hired Harper Lee Collins as an associate broker in Falmouth.

MittelAsen LLC, a law firm in Portland, hired attorney William Leete Jr. as a partner member of the firm and Scott Dolan and Whitney Lallas as associate attorneys. Leete focuses his practice on business and real matters, including acquisitions and sales, obtaining commercial financing, forming businesses and other business, transactional and litigation needs; Dolan on litigation, business law and copyright and trademark law; and Lallas on family law matters.

EMDC in Bangor hired Miranda Pelkey and Gaja Thiagarajan. Pelkey is a counselor with the firm’s Maine PTAC program while Thiagarajan is a general accountant.

Maine Coast Heritage Trust, a statewide land conservation organization based in Topsham, hired Brad Kauffman as COO. Kauffman previously held senior leadership positions at L.L.Bean and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

New Dimensions Federal Credit Union in Waterville hired Darla Frost as vice president of lending. Frost has 20 years of mortgage lending experience.

Berry Talbot Royer, an accounting firm in Falmouth, hired Hadje Esmiller as director of audit and assurance services. Esmiller was previously with Wipfli Macpage.

Good Shepherd Food Bank in Auburn hired Amy Regan Gallant as vice president of public policy and research and Robin McCarthy as an annual giving officer. Gallant was previously advocacy director at AARP Maine while McCarthy was with Maine Public where she oversaw the direct marketing program for the statewide public media station.

OTELCO, a wireline telecommunications services company in New Gloucester, hired Catherine Johnston as director of sales. Johnston was direct sales manager at Spectrum.

CES Inc., a firm of engineers, environmental scientists and land surveyors in Brewer, hired Cynthia White as senior administrative assistant and senior project assistant. White was most recently with the Nevada Department of Transportation.

MaineHealth Care at Home in Saco hired Matthew Driscoll as director of communications and public affairs. Driscoll, who has 20 years of experience in health care, was communications and marketing manager at NorDx.

Promotions

Maine Academy of Modern Music in Portland promoted Aviva Shaw to director of development and operations. Shaw previously served in the position on a part-time basis.

USI Insurance Services, an insurance brokerage and risk management firm in Portland, promoted Roger Dunning to commercial lines practice leader in Southern Maine. Dunning was previously commercial lines vice president in Bedford, N.H.

HM Payson, an integrated financial advisory firm in Portland, promoted Molly Reinfried and Tim Griffin to shareholders and Michelle Santiago to a managing director. Reinfried is chair of the firm’s financial planning group and a portfolio manager, Griffin a portfolio manager and Santiago is chief trust administration officer.

Landry/French Construction in Scarborough promoted Ben McPherson to project manager. McPherson was an assistant project manager.

Schoodic Institute at Acadia National Park in Winter Harbor promoted Nicholas Fisichelli to president and CEO. Fisichelli had been serving as interim president and CEO since August.

MaineHealth in Portland promoted Alexander Green to associate vice president of planning. Green previously served as director of system planning and regulatory compliance.

CES Inc., a firm of engineers, environmental scientists and land surveyors in Brewer, promoted Johanna Szillery to supervisor and project manager and Andrea Dickinson to project manager and project engineer within its environmental division; Brian Hanlon to senior designer in its engineering division; and Zachary Thomas to senior designer in its engineering division based in Saco. Szillery was a senior project scientist, Dickinson a project professional, Hanlon a CADD technician and Thomas was a designer.

Appointments

United Midcoast Charities in Camden elected Frank Hackett and Mary Sargent to its board of directors. Hackett has served as a consultant to many for-profit and nonprofit organizations while Sargent is executive director of Penobscot Shores Retirement Community in Belfast. The nonprofit also announced its new executive committee including Betsy Clemens Saltonstall, president; Lori Alexander, vice president; John Viehman, secretary; and Jim Hengerer, chair of the grants committee.

EMDC in Bangor announced officers of its board of directors including William Shorey, board chair; Dan Tremble, vice chair; and Laura Sanborn, secretary-treasurer.

Matthew Worthen, a shareholder at the law firm Eaton Peabody, was elected to the board of directors of the Maine Real Estate & Development Association in Portland. Worthen is a member of the firm’s business practice group and chair of the firm’s real estate practice group.

Friends of Casco Bay in South Portland added Mark Green to its board. Green is a professor of natural sciences at St. Joseph’s College.

The Institute for Family-Owned Business in Portland named Lindsay Skilling, CEO of Gifford’s Ice Cream, as board chair; Dottie Chalmers Cutter, vice president of operations at Chalmers Insurance Group, vice chair; Dave Ciullo, CEO of Career Management Associates, past chair; and Melinda Irish, controller of Lincolnville Telephone, treasurer. In addition, Jean Ginn Marvin of Nonantum Resort and Linda Varrell of Broadreach Public Relations and WordLab LLC have been added to the board.

The Brunswick Downtown Association elected Mark Rockwood, pastor of Berean Baptist Church, as chair of its board; Kristine Logan, Midcoast Regional Redevelopment Authority, vice chair; Dee Perry, Senter Place, secretary; and Cathy Barter, Bangor Savings, treasurer.

Achievements

RE/MAX Shoreline in Portland said that Nick Guerrette earned the Seniors Real Estate Specialist designation. Guerrette is an associate with the firm.

Norway Savings Bank said it was named a “Best Practices” winner by the New England Employee Benefits Council for innovation and creativity in the planning and delivery of its employee benefit programs.

The Trucking Cares Foundation, the charitable arm of American Trucking Associations, awarded U.S. Sen. Susan Collins with its “2020 Hero Award” for her efforts in Congress to combat the crime of human trafficking.

Champion the Cure Challenge, the region’s only event whose proceeds fund local cancer treatment and research, named its 2020 honorees including: Brenda Farnham, honorary chair; Brewer High School cheerleaders, “Youth Champion"; D’arcy Main-Boyington, “Terry Fox Award"; Katahdin Trust Co., “Corporate Champion"; Memorymaker Photography, Thomas Morelli Photography and Nancy O’Connor Photography, “Volunteers of the Year"; and Target, “Community Champion.”

Katahdin Bankshares Corp., parent company of Katahdin Trust Co. in Houlton, announced was named to the “2020 OTCQX Best 50,” a ranking of top performing companies traded on the OTCQX Best Market last year.

The Brunswick Downtown Association named Maine Street Sweets and Little Dog Coffee Shop its “BDA Members of the Year,” The Tontine Mall its “BDA Business of the Year” and Claudia Knox its “BDA Volunteer of the Year.”

Robert Gordon was named the “Peter G. Thompson Lifetime Achievement” award at the Kennebec Valley Chamber of Commerce 2020 Kenney Awards. Other winners included Central Maine Pyrotechnics, “Large Business of the Year"; Zardus Art of Massage & Wellness Spa, “Small Business of the Year"; Cushnoc Brewing Co., “President’s Choice"; Augusta Elks Lodge #964, “Community Service Finalists"; and Natalie Tortorella, “Cynergy Young Professional Finalists.”

Michael Boardman, founder and CEO of Readiness Associates, a consulting firm in Portland that helps clients prepare for and recover from natural and man-made disasters, was chosen to participate in the “2020 Top Gun Program” run by the Maine Center for Entrepreneurs.

The Portland Water District said it was awarded the “Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting” by the Government Finance Officers Association.

Legacy Properties Sotheby’s International Realty in Portland announced that it retained the No. 1 ranking for Luxury Property Sales in Maine based on selling residential homes priced over $1 million and the No. 1 ranking for 2019 Waterfront Property sales in Maine.
