New hires

Yokogawa Fluid Imaging Technologies Inc. in Scarborough hired Shawn Barden as associate applications scientist, Polly Barrowman in water markets sales and Kristian Daigle as field service engineer. Barden was previously with Fairchild/ON Semiconductor, Barrowman was with Eurofins Eaton Analytical and Daigle was with Lamey Wellehan.

The Maine Community Foundation in Ellsworth hired Carol Perreault as data entry associate and Richard Spearen Jr. as finance assistant. Perreault was previously office administrator and assistant registrar at Camp Beech Cliff in Mount Desert while Spearen worked in the finance department at Hollywood Casino Bangor.

Miller Law & Mediation, a law firm in Portland, hired Nick Galanin as an associate.

The Maine Department of Secretary of State hired Chris Johnson as deputy secretary of state for information services, chief information officer. Johnson, a former state senator from Lincoln County, most recently served as the IT integration specialist at the Island Institute.

Norway Savings Bank hired Kristen Charette as vice president, mortgage loan officer in Fryeburg.

Coffee By Design in Portland hired Kate LaCombe as manager, Congress Street coffeehouse and Quintin Pringle as manager, India Street coffeehouse.

Partners Bank in Sanford hired Christopher Allen as senior vice president/chief risk officer. Allen was previously management consultant in enterprise risk management, internal audit and compliance at Vertex11.

The Roland Grindle Agency, an insurance agency in Bucksport and a division of Brown, Holmes & Milliken, hired Autumn Harvey as a commercial lines insurance specialist.

Maine Source Homes & Realty in Auburn hired Lindsay Wright as a listing and buyer specialist.

RE/MAX Shoreline in Portland hired Chloe Salom as an agent.

Promotions

Bar Harbor Bank & Trust promoted William Bennett as assistant vice president, community banking relationship manager. Bennett was previously assistant vice president, branch relationship manager for the bank’s locations in the Greater Bangor area.

Migis Hotel Group in Westbrook promoted Landace Porta to director of operations. Porta was previously general manager of the group’s Black Point Inn in Scarborough.

Coffee By Design in Portland promoted Jeremy Rävar to director of operations and Joe Baum to production manager of its roastery.

Katahdin Trust in Houlton promoted Lauren Carpenter to branch manager and retail services officer in Scarborough. Carpenter was previously interim manager.

BerryDunn, an accounting and consulting firm in Portland, promoted Sarah Belliveau to CEO and managing principal. Belliveau previously led the firm’s not-for-profit practice.

Appointments

The Maine Community College System in Augusta added Valerie Bilogue as student trustee on its board of trustees. Bilogue is a computer and networking technology student at Northern Maine Community College in Presque Isle.

Readiness Associates, a provider of full-service emergency preparedness and business continuity solutions in Portland, added Shaun Gagnon to its advisory board. Gagnon is president and managing partner of Cambridge Insurance Advisors in New York City.

Achievements

Words From the Woods, an advertising agency in Portland, announced that it won 12 “Broderson Awards” at Maine Ad + Design’s 2021 biennial award show.

Simon West, government relations specialist at the Maine State Chamber of Commerce, was selected by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation to participate in the fifth cohort of its Business Leads Fellowship Program.

Carroll Ware was honored by the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife with the “Wiggie Robinson Legendary Maine Guide Award.” Ware has operated Fins and Furs Adventures in Skowhegan for 30 years.

The Central Aroostook Chamber of Commerce presented a “Customer Service Award” to Mike’s and Sons, an outdoor power equipment sales and services store in Presque Isle.

Verrill, a law firm in Portland, said it was rated as a “Leading Firm” in 11 categories and subcategories as evaluated by London-based Chambers & Partners. In addition, 24 of its Maine-based attorneys were acknowledged as was its bankruptcy/restructuring; corporate/M&A; employee benefits and executive compensation; energy and natural resources; environment; labor and employment; litigation: general commercial; and real estate practice groups.

Hugh McCormick Design Co. in Portland captured two “Gold Crushie” awards at the 2021 Craft Beer Marketing Awards, one for “Beer-Marketing Wild Cards/Most Creative Signage, POS and Brewery Accessories” for the Batson River Brewing & Distilling’s outside mural and another for “Beer-Marketing Wild Cards/Best Brewery Rebrand” for Austin Street Brewery.

Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington said Sandra Howe and Kelly Salminen earned the Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse credential from the Medical-Surgical Nursing Certification Board.

The Portland Water District recognized Cozy Harbor Seafood, St John Street; ecomaine Landfill, Scott Drive (South Portland); Mercy Hospital, Fore River Parkway and State Street; Barber Foods, Milliken Street; Concord Coachlines, Sewall Street; ecomaine Waste-to-Energy, Blueberry Road; Geary Brewing, Evergreen Drive; NRC, Waldron Way; and Sprague Operating Resources, Cassidy Point Drive for achieving full compliance with their industrial discharge permits for the 2020-2021 Industrial Pretreatment year ending on April 30.

Biddeford Bottle & Can said it was awarded the “2020 TOMRA Excellence Award,” in recognition of its commitment to the environment and customer experience.

RE/MAX Shoreline announced that Roz Siegel received this year’s “Spirit Award” from the Greater Portland Board of Realtors. Siegel is a broker at the agency.

Altrusa International Portland named Ray Richard is its “2021 Volunteer of the Year.” Richard is president of Portland Wheelers.
