No buyer, so Turner sewing machine retailer will close its doors

A longtime sewing machine retailer in Turner will close its doors Saturday after a deal to sell the business fell through.

Cote Bros. Sewing Machines owners Ron Blake and Lisa Cote-Blake said in a news release that they’ll close the store, which is at 293 Auburn Road in Turner, and liquidate much of the inventory. They did not go into details of why the proposed deal fell through.

The store dates to 1956.

The owners indicated they’re retiring, but will continue operations of the industrial sewing division, working from a new shop at 117 Clover Lane in Turner.

Cote Bros. will hold three-day “blowout sale” of all inventory, fixtures, tools and displays, May 9-11.

“If anyone is interested in buying the business, you have until May 9 to step up,” the couple said in the release.

“We have enjoyed our retail customers and appreciate the loyalty that you have shown to Cote Bros. since 1956, but the time has come,” the couple said. “We thank you all for being part of our family.”
