Noise complaints plummet at year's first waterfront concert

The first performance of the year at Bangor’s Waterfront Concerts series drew far fewer noise complaints than last year’s kickoff performance, as the Bangor police department fielded only six complaints compared to 86 last year.

But as the Bangor Daily News reports, the drop could be attributed to Saturday night’s headliner being Grammy-nominated country music star Dierks Bentley. For the past two years, the Waterfront Concerts series has kicked off with the Rise Above Fest, a daylong festival that brings nationally known metal acts to the city’s waterfront.

Although Sgt. Kevin MacLaren told the BDN that the department receives noise complaints for nearly every concert, the six reported on Saturday seemed lower than average.
