Price of home heating oil in Maine inches up

Maine heating oil prices are inching up in the pre-season, according to the latest weekly data from the Governor’s Energy Office released on Monday.

The report shows that the current statewide average cash price for No. 2 heating oil was $2.77 a gallon, which is 7 cents above what it was a month ago.

Between September 2017 and August 2018 the jump is more pronounced at 24% higher, but still lower than heating-season highs.

The average statewide kerosene price is up 5 cents, to $3.36 a gallon.

Propane prices are holding steady, now at $2.69 a gallon for heating customers.
