Restaurant, innkeepers groups consolidate leadership

The Maine Restaurant Association and the Maine Innkeepers Association have agreed to form a jointly owned company to manage both organizations.

The associations reported in a press release that the shift comes as restaurant association President Dick Grotton has decided to retire at the end of the year. Greg Dugal, current executive director of the innkeepers association, will take the reins of the new management company, becoming CEO of both organizations.

The associations reported that they will move into adjoining office space in Augusta by next summer and will share costs of management services, rent, equipment leases and and other expenses.

Through the move, both associations will retain independent boards of directors, committees, staff and budgets.
