R.H. Foster to open first retail Autogas pumps

Hampden-based energy company R.H. Foster will open the state's first retail pumps for Autogas, a form of liquid propane gas that can be used to fuel automobiles.

The company announced it will host an event Monday in Ellsworth to unveil the new fueling station. Joseph Rose, president and CEO of the Propane Gas Association of New England, said in a prepared statement that Autogas can reduce fuel costs by up to 50% and that the technology to use Autogas is available on a range of buses and through aftermarket conversions on standard combustion engines.

R.H. Foster has 350 employees and 24 gas stations across the state. The company also provides residential products through four Energy Services branches and has a wholesale fuel division.
