Shaw Bros. Construction readies $10M asphalt plant

Shaw Brothers Construction is preparing to move early next year into a new $10 million plant under construction next to its brickyard quarry in Gorham.

The Current reported that the company plans to mothball its commercial paving asphalt plant at 1 Chubs Way in Scarborough, which it purchased in 2007, when it moves.

Jon Shaw, president and co-owner of the construction firm specializing in site development and heavy highway and utility projects, said the new operation will more than triple the company’s capacity to produce “hot top” asphalt. The Scarborough plant can produce 120 tons per hour while the new facility will produce around 400 tons of asphalt per hour.
