South Portland to present business awards to 8 recipients

Six businesses, a nonprofit arts organization and a local business leader will receive the 2023 South Portland Business Awards, to be presented next week.

The annual awards recognize members of the South Portland business and nonprofit community for their contributions, according to a news release from the city.

This year's recipients are:

  • Bridgeway Restaurant, Small Business of the Year
  • Diodes Inc., Business of the Year
  • Brant and Cochran, Maker of the Year
  • Restore Hyper Wellness, New Business of the Year
  • Avesta Housing and Kaplan Thompson Architects, SoPo Sustainability Award
  • Lyric Music Theater, Santo “Sam” DiPietro Community Impact Award
  • Edward Palmer Sr., Business Leader of the Year

"This year’s awardees positively contribute to the city of South Portland and add to the vibrancy and economic vitality of our community," the city said in the release.

The recipients will be honored at a reception Wednesday, Feb. 21, from 5-7 p.m., at South Portland Middle School, 120 Wescott Road. The free event will include networking, hors d’oeuvres and tours of the newly constructed school. The awards will be presented at 6 p.m.
