State revenue looking up

State revenue was up as much as $45 million above projections at the end of April thanks to robust income tax collections, according to the Times Record in Brunswick.

The money came in after the Legislature adjourned this session, which means it won't be spent this fiscal year, which ends June 30.

The higher-than-projected revenue is thanks in large part to upper-income taxpayers, according to the paper. Sales tax revenue, which better reflects the overall economy, was down in March, the paper said.
