The County Federal Credit Union hires CFO with diverse financial experience

The County Federal Credit Union has hired Brad Wolverton as its next chief financial officer.

He comes to the credit union after working for nine years as the plant controller for Huber Engineered Woods in his hometown of Easton, in Aroostook County. He is also an adjunct accounting professor at the University of Maine at Presque Isle.

Before working at Huber, he was with Chester M. Kearney CPAs, a tax and accounting firm in Houlton. He spent five years with the company.

His first professional role was with the Bradford Group, where he worked for nine years. During his time with the company, Wolverton worked in Florida, Boston and New York City.

"We are happy to have such an experienced finance professional joining our team," said Ryan Ellsworth, president and CEO of the County Federal Credit Union. "Brad brings auditing and strategic fiscal planning skills to the team."

Wolverton added, “This credit union has strong roots and I look forward to being part of best serving our members."

Wolverton received his bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Maine and his MBA from Everest University in Florida. He also obtained a strategic leadership certificate from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He holds a certified public accountant designation.

Wolverton is on the University of Maine at Presque Isle's foundation board and serves on the auditing committee of the Maine School of Science and Mathematics. He is also a past member of Empower Aroostook and Kiwanis Club.

The County FCU serves Aroostook, Penobscot and Piscataquis counties with branches in Caribou, Presque Isle, Fort Fairfield, Mars Hill, Houlton, Howland, Old Town and Bangor. 

The County FCU has $449.8 million in total deposits and ranks No. 7 among the largest Maine-based credit unions, based on deposits as of Sept. 30, 2022, according to the 2023 Mainebiz Book of Lists.
