The First Bancorp names new CEO

The First Bancorp Inc., with headquarters in Damariscotta, has named its longtime chief operating officer as its new CEO and president, less than a year after predecessor Daniel Daigneault announced his retirement.

The Mount Desert Islander reported that Tony McKim, who was the bank’s COO for 10 years, has officially taken the bank’s leadership post. The leadership transition plan was first announced in May 2014. The First Bancorp, which is the holding company for the 16-branch community bank The First, N.A., manages about $1.4 billion in assets.

“I have always been a great believer in this company,” McKim told the newspaper. “I hope to continue to grow The First, and I hope to do it profitably and efficiently, and I hope our shareholders see that over time.”
