Three weeks in, The Cat still finding its footing

The number of passengers traveling aboard Bay Ferries Ltd.’s new Portland-to-Nova Scotia ferry service continues to grow as it wrapped up its third week of operations on July 7, but the numbers are still below the 700-passenger capacity of The Cat.

An average of 307 passengers and 106 vehicles used The Cat service daily each way from July 1 through July 7, according to a news release from Bay Ferries.

Comparatively, 181 passengers and 78 vehicles were aboard the ferry during its first week of service, which began on June 15. For The Cat’s second week of service, 185 passengers and 97 vehicles traversed the route between Portland and Yarmouth, N.S.
