Wood pellet co. opens in Athens
A company that will make 100,000 tons of wood pellets a year for residential and industrial use has opened in Athens.
Maine Woods Pellet Company LLC is now located in the former Boralex biomass site. The company is owned by Maine Biomass Fuels, of Belmont, and Linkletter and Sons, of Athens.
The USDA Rural Development's state director, Michael Aube, presented the company last week with a grant for $700,000, according to a press release.
