In keeping with tradition, the July 4th weekend will be one of the busiest travel times of the year. Trips by car and plane are set to break new records.

AAA projects 72.2 million people will travel at least 50 miles or more from home between Saturday, June 28 to Sunday, July 6. 

The domestic travel forecast is an increase of 1.7 million travelers compared to last year and 7 million more than 2019.

AAA's forecast covers two weekends to reflect the flow of holiday travel.
