Scarborough-based coffee shop chain Aroma Joe’s has opened its first Farmington location.
The shop, at 293 Main St., will employ 25 to 30 people and is the third location to open in the past couple of months under the leadership of franchisees Bob Brennan and Aaron Wiswell. The owners opened two Bangor locations: the first at 444 Main St. in April, and the second at 28 Haskell Road in June.
“We have been looking forward to bringing the first Aroma Joe’s to the Farmington community,” said Wiswell. “As a Maine-based brand, Aroma Joe’s sees great value in continuing to grow in its home state."
Scarborough-based Aroma Joe's has 126 locations, from Maine to Florida.
The Farmington location — a 1,267-square-foot space with drive-thru — takes over a former Gifford's Ice Cream stand, which closed in August 2024.
It will offer Aroma Joe's typical fare, including coffee, espresso, energy drinks, soft drinks and food options.
Aroma Joe’s launched in 2000 in New Hampshire and then moved to Maine. The company is a franchising business that has expanded primarily in Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, New York and Connecticut, but there are also franchisees in Florida.
