Bangor Savings Bank is launching the “Parking for a Cause” program to benefit nonprofits.

The bank said in a news release it will open the parking garage attached to its new operations center along Main Street to the public for most waterfront concerts this summer. It will charge $25 for parking and will donate 100% of net proceeds to 18 Bangor-area nonprofits.

“We’re excited to launch this new community program and give concert attendees extra incentive to park close to the concert entrance,” said Bangor Savings President and CEO Bob Montgomery-Rice. “We’ll support different nonprofits each year, and look forward to seeing how the program benefits great organizations throughout the Bangor region.”

The parking garage will have space for about 400 cars and nonprofit organizations in Bangor, Brewer, Old Town, and surrounding towns will benefit from the new program.

The 2019 Parking for a Cause proceeds will be distributed evenly to these organizations at the end of the concert season: Literacy Volunteers of Bangor; Shaw House; Neighbors Supporting Neighbors Food Pantry; My Friends Place and Unlimited Solutions Clubhouse; Bangor Humane Society; Bangor Area Homeless Shelter; Spruce Run - Womancare Alliance; Bangor Area Recovery Network; Brewer Area Food Cupboard; Camp Capella; Wellspring Inc.; Old Town Animal Orphanage; Boys and Girls Club of Bangor; Good Samaritan Agency; Furry Friends Foodbank (Eastern Agency of Aging); Champion the Cure Challenge and Maine Junior Black Bears.
