Drive Fore Kids charity golf tourney tees up 2024 ticket sales, more celebrities

Woman golfing File photo / Tim Greenway NBC TV sportscaster Kathryn Tappen, on the green in this summer's Drive Fore Kids charity golf tournament, will return to play in the second edition next June.

After June's inaugural Drive Fore Kids charity golf tournament in Falmouth raised $111,000 for the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital and delivered a $6.66 million economic impact, the organizer is teeing up for next year.

Tickets for the 2024 invitational event, scheduled for June 20-23 at the Falmouth Country Club, are available for purchase online.

Next year's tourney will also expand the field of celebrity players from 34 to 48. Already, 28 celebrities from sports and entertainment who played in 2023 have committed to return in 2024.

Repeat contenders include Patrick Dempsey, founder of the Dempsey Center in Lewiston as well as a race car driver and actor on the "Gray's Anatomy" television series, and Golf Channel host Blair O'Neal, a retired professional golf pro.

“We are excited to build off a successful inaugural Drive Fore Kids with a bigger, better and best celebrity tournament and related festivities,” Brian Corcoran, CEO of Shamrock Sports & Entertainment and executive director for Drive Fore Kids, told Mainebiz.

“New to the 2024 star-studded field will be a combination of sports, movie, music and comedy celebrities,” he added, without naming names.

“Stay tuned for a lineup of national touring headliners later this fall," he promised.

Corcoran, who was honored on the Mainebiz Next list in 2016, launched the Drive for Kids tournament after the PGA Tour pulled the plug on Falmouth as a stop on the Korn Ferry pro golf circuit.

Next year’s Drive Fore Kids will also feature new experiences including a food truck village, beer gardens, an enhanced FanZone and celebrity autograph alley, and live evening entertainment.
