Expansion planned for Saco gun facility
General Dynamics yesterday said it would expand its gun manufacturing facility in Saco in anticipation of future growth.
In its first phase of expansion, Falls Church-based General Dynamics will invest $5 million in equipment at the Saco facility and hire up to 31 additional employees, according to a press release from the company. The expansion is critical for the company to remain competitive in receiving contracts from the U.S. Department of Defense, the release said.
General Dynamics recently received a $36.6 million contract to produce M2HB machine guns for the U.S. military. Production on the M2HB will be completed in Saco.
