Pattenaude picks new USM president

University of Maine System Chancellor Richard Pattenaude today recommended Selma Botman as the next president of the University of Southern Maine.

The system's board of trustees will vote on whether to hire Botman at its meeting Monday in Portland, according to a press release from USM. If the board agrees with Pattenaude, Botman will start July 1, with an annual salary of $203,000, the release said.

Botman currently serves as executive vice chancellor and provost of the City University of New York, which has 230,000 students. She would succeed Joseph Wood, who's served as interim USM president since July 2007. Read Botman's resume here.
