Fairchild profit falls in Q3

Fairchild Semiconductor yesterday said its third quarter profit declined because of litigation and restructuring costs.

The South Portland-based chip maker posted a profit of $20.3 million in the third quarter of 2007, a 19% decline from the $25.1 million it earned during the same period in 2006, according to a press release.

Sales for Q3 rose two percent from a year ago, to $426.8 million.
