Fairchild Semi posts $2.7M net income

After a nearly $25 million net loss in the second quarter, Fairchild Semiconductor today posted a $2.7 million net income for its third quarter, which ended Sept. 27.
The semiconductor manufacturer's third-quarter net income is still well below the $26.7 million net income it posted during the third quarter of 2008. The company, which has headquarters in South Portland and San Jose, Calif., had adjusted net income of $14.9 million in the latest quarter, compared to an adjusted net loss of $3.5 million in the second quarter and an adjusted net income of $34.0 million in the third quarter of 2008.
The company posted third quarter sales of $331.8 million, a 19% decrease from the second quarter, but a 23% increase from the same quarter of 2008.
