Legacy Properties Sotheby’s International Realty expands offices

Legacy Properties Sotheby’s International Realty hired agents for its Northeast Harbor, Camden and New Hampshire offices.

Northeast Harbor

For Northeast Harbor, Legacy scooped up agents Jeffrey Allen, Tina Allen, Parker Allen, Annie Allen and Marty Dischinger from Downeast Properties, a real estate agency in  Blue Hill.

Downeast Properties joined Legacy to gain access to is marketing resources, international exposure and network, according to a news release. The Downeast team is operating as the Allen Group under the Legacy banner. 

“We are thrilled to welcome the Downeast Properties team,” said Chris Lynch, Legacy’s president. “Their deep community ties and longstanding success in the Downeast region make them a natural fit.”

The new hires will allow Legacy to deepen its market presence in Hancock County, the firm said.

Jeffrey Allen and his wife Tina owned Downeast Properties, founded in 1974 and serving Blue Hill, Brooklin, Castine, Deer Isle, Sedgwick, Stonington and surrounding communities. 

As part of Legacy Properties Sotheby’s International Realty, the Downeast Properties team will gain access to marketing, international exposure and a network of professionals.

Jeffrey Allen grew up on the Blue Hill peninsula. After earning a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from Marquette University, he began his career in the corporate world. In 1993, he returned to Maine to run his family’s blueberry business, G.M. Allen & Son Inc., founded by his grandfather in 1912.

In 2002, the Allens purchased Fairwinds Florist and soon after were introduced to the real estate world through a waterfront subdivision project. 

Mentored by Vance Gray, the former owner of Downeast Properties, the couple purchased the real estate firm in 2004. 

A Navy veteran, Allen has coached youth sports, served as a deacon, and held roles as a town select board member and chamber of commerce board member. He splits his time between Maine and his second home in Vero Beach, Fla.

Basketball standout

Annie Allen began her real estate career in 2018 and has closed nearly 100 transactions in the past five years across a wide range of towns, said Lynch.

She graduated from George Stevens Academy in Blue Hill in 1982, where she was inducted into the GSA Athletics Hall of Fame as a standout athlete and the school’s first female basketball player to score 1,000 points. 

She went on to play basketball at the University of Maine in Orono, where she earned a bachelor of science degree in education. 

Following college, she spent 30 years working at G.M. Allen & Son, her family’s wild blueberry processing plant in Orland. She managed sales and compliance and served as vice president before the business was sold in 2018.

Throughout her career, she also served in public service as a political appointee for the USDA Farm Service Agency, and served on the Wild Blueberry Commission of Maine.

Parker Allen was raised in Blue Hill, spent early summers raking blueberry fields and working as a deckhand at the Kollegewidgwok Yacht Club.

Baltimore transplant

Dischinger began her career in Maryland, where she worked with the Rouse Co. during the development of Columbia, Md. She became a partner and owner of a real estate office, navigating Baltimore’s evolving waterfront market.

She and her spouse began spending summers on Mount Desert Island and decided to settle there permanently. 

In addition to real estate, she co-owned an antiques business on the Blue Hill peninsula. She serves on the board of directors at the Shaw Institute in Blue Hill, a marine and environmental research organization founded by ecotoxicologist Susan Shaw.

Camden and NH

Marjanne Barbour has come to Legacy’s Camden office as an experienced broker.

“Marjanne has a proven track record of success, with a strong customer focus, attention to detail, and a terrific mix of design expertise, real estate industry experience and a deep knowledge of midcoast Maine that will be a great asset to clients and a valuable addition to our team,” said Brian Wickenden, senior vice president and manager of the Camden office.

Marjanne Barbour

A lifelong Mainer, Barbour brings over 25 years of experience as a licensed real estate broker. Her background includes 15 years as a home and product stylist, with features in Maine Homes by Down East.

Robyne Harrison was hired for the company’s seacoast New Hampshire office.
