LePage names new insurance head

Gov. Paul LePage has tapped Eric Cioppa, the state's deputy insurance superintendent, to lead the Bureau of Insurance following Mila Kofman's resignation.
Cioppa will serve as acting superintendent of the bureau, effective immediately, according to a press release from the governor's office. Cioppa has worked for the bureau since 1988, starting out as a statistician, and also worked as a supervisor of the workers' compensation section before becoming deputy in 1998.
Kofman, who served as insurance superintendent for three years, left the post last month, citing differences with LePage over health care reform.
