Machias Savings Bank has hired Barbara Durr as senior vice president, government banking relationship manager.
Durr brings extensive experience working with municipalities throughout Maine and upstate New York. She will be based at the bank's Portland office.
The Casco resident spent nearly 20 years at TD Bank, most recently as vice president of government banking and relationship manager.
"For the last 20 years, I have been fortunate to be a relationship manager for governmental organizations," Durr told Mainebiz.
"A lot of the time, my clients might be experts in all things municipal, but they don't necessarily know the ins and outs of banking — that's where I come in. As a relationship manager, I'm their go-to for all things banking."
"Because of my experience in this unique segment of business, I have a holistic understanding of what municipal clients are facing day to day and I have the skills to look at the big picture for my customers," she continued.
"Not only do I make personalized recommendations for banking products and services, but I can explain the different processes in a way that allows them to make the most informed decisions to best suit their needs."
She served as the president of the McLaughlin Foundation's board of directors, on the board of the Casco Village Church, and on the town's finance committee.
"She is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to government banking and her approach to customer service and her ability to be a valuable resource for her clients fits Machias Savings Bank perfectly," said Jim Edwards, senior vice president, cash management solutions manager at Machias Savings Bank.
Machias Savings ranked No. 6 among Maine-based banks in the 2024 Mainebiz Book of Lists, based on assets as of June 30, 2023. Machias Savings has $2.4 billion in assets, 300 employees and 15 branches from Portland to Caribou.
