Machias Savings Bank has hired Alex Lopes as senior vice president and the southern Maine regional market manager.
Based in southern Maine, Lopes will focus on developing and expanding business banking relationships across the region in his new role.
"I look forward to working closely with our talented team to build and strengthen relationships with our business clients and support the economic vitality of our communities,” said Lopes.
Lopes has experience in commercial real estate and commercial and industrial lending, loan structuring, relationship management, credit analysis and strategic portfolio growth.
Prior to joining Machias Savings, he worked at TD Bank, KeyBank and Bangor Savings.
He earned his bachelor's degree in business administration with a concentration in finance from Bryant University. Lopes serves on the boards of the Windham Economic Development Corp. and the Maine Chapter of the Risk Management Association, where he also chairs the Education Committee.

Machias Savings ranked No. 6 among Maine-based banks in the 2024 Mainebiz Book of Lists, based on assets as of June 30, 2024. Machias Savings has $2.6 billion in assets, 334 employees and 15 branches from Portland to Caribou.
